END OF SUMMER BLUES & A SALE!

END OF SUMMER BLUES & A SALE!

Chronicles from A Well Lived House...

Let’s look at a few gorgeous images of soft blues to please our spirits, shall we?   This dining room above was by interior designer MARK SIKES.

SOFT BLUES/SPA, is another sub-category of my ever-growing

BLUE & WHITE COLLECTION:

Below is another  MARK SIKES designed LIVING & DINING ROOM filled with botanical prints, chinoiserie, porecelainware, block printed patterns including CHIANG MAI DRAGON in China Blue on the sofa, teal leather upholstered chairs, a few modern prints thrown in, some tailored curtains and a few touches of lilac in the flowers.  Just such a rich mix to keep the eye entertained and the soul enriched.

This lovely botanical print has all the right soft blues and a touch of lavender…I have a few left and then they are gone!  This pattern has been discontinued for some reason 🙁

I love a more modern mix with the traditional, don’t you?   Don’t want to be staid.  MARK SIKES again.

WANNA SHOP?   Here’s the link…

Summer at its best.

This is a Joseph Frank print by Schumacher below –  Citrus Garden in Pool. This fabric is also available in an outdoor fabric.

And a wallpaper border that is surprisingly affordable…

JOANN PALMISIANO is sooo good at designing interiors for resorts, rentals, cabins, hotels. etc. She is know for salvaging objects like the vintage flags below.  She also uses STUDIO TULLIA pillows out of JALISA paisley…

And she has a new book coming out soon.

I collaborated on a collection with TINA from THE ENCHANTED HOME and she used these lovely fabrics in her home in PALMETTO BLUFF.

The soft blues are a casual, comfortable style. Could be the Hamptons, could be the Pacific Northwest coast, or the Australian or New South Wales coast.  Stripes and simple prints,  embroidered textiles, shimmery velvets.   Blue and white pottery, rattan, blond or lighter wood finishes, vintage paintings. You know.

LES  TOUCHES by Brunswig & Fils, forever classic

This fabric is shown on the chair, in a room designed by MARK SIKES.

The fabric I currently have in stock is the embroidered version shown below, but I can get the cotton printed pattern as well.

Less than a week until the kids are back in school.  I am ready.   But for now, I am heading off to the beach!   Enjoy those blue skies, the sunshine, relaxing Summer afternoons….they’re the best.  And so are you!

How do handmade mugs, fine crystal, creature comforts like tea and gin, all while supporting handmade artisans selling on Etsy, sound for Mother’s Day?

How do handmade mugs, fine crystal, creature comforts like tea and gin, all while supporting handmade artisans selling on Etsy, sound for Mother’s Day?

Mother’s Day. A day to treat one’s self as a mother, whether of children or furry ones. And/or a day to honor your Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, or any other divine being kind enough to treat you in a maternal way.  When I think about it, there have been many: neighbors, friends, colleagues, teachers, relatives.  It’s also a day to feel honored for the opportunity to be a Mother. Now that is a cause for celebration.

This week I’ve been trying to settle on the textiles, rug and lighting so I can got those ordered and in the works.  I put together this mood board:

LIGHTING

I have this antique chandelier:

and I am trying to modernize it/freshen it up so I have found a few options…

This is fun, from SASSY SHADES on ETSY:

and I am in love with these, from SHANDELL’S:

I am also looking at SCONCES for above the bed which are really needed for night time reading.  Here are a few I’m considering.  These are all from LAMPS PLUS except for the one that is second from last, which is from TARGET.

I am leaning toward the third pair down as I like the brass and gold combination and it will offer a little contrast.

The look is pretty good for the price of $99/pair.  The last one I would take in a heartbeat but it is a little over budget.

TEXTILES

This was one of my inspiration shots (room by Ana Rosa):

I put together these fabrics that I found at THE MILL END STORE in SE PDX. I like the Japanese toile that has a vintage quality to it and I am adding stripes and ikat.

I am going to use these fabrics for my duvet cover and euro shams:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have some triple pleated BELGIAN LINEN SHADES from WS HOME for this room.  I am going to add a decorative inner edge to liven up the curtains and tie in with the blues in the room.

This is what I will add – a few pleats on each inner side.

It is really nice to step into a soft, plush rug in the morning so I am thinking maybe something like this SAFAVIEH CALIFORNIA SHAG runner from LOWE’s for $83.

PAINT COLORS

I am planning to paint the trim a fresh white.

I was originally planning to paint the dresser indigo blue but I am also playing around with caliente red also.

Only because I can’t get this entry by @maxwhumphrey out of my mind.

And LIGHT GRAY PAINT for the two DOORS

That’s where I am for now.   I would love to hear your comments.  I have some fun art ideas in the works to share with you next time.  Thanks for stopping by.
