Tina Marie of The Enchanted Home finds Studio Tullia and Etsy

Tina Marie, designer and blogger for THE ENCHANTED HOME, discovered STUDIO TULLIA in the process of searching for decorative pillows for her veranda/loggia at her fabulous manse in New York.

I was lucky enough to be one of two final contenders in her pillow search on ETSY where my pillows will now live: in the Home of Enchantment.

This is her lovely blue and white design board of ETSY pillows she found:

Some of the final choices from STUDIO TULLIA were:
Ribbon Fretwork Pillow

Chiang Mai China Blue by Schumacher

And a lovely IKAT pillow from MOTIF PILLOWS by Priscilla Elizabeth out of Charleston, SC on ETSY. What a great combination!

She later shared with her readers the arrival and display of pillows in her loggia and outer terrace:

You can see that she also has a lovely collection of porcelains with a concentration on blue and whites. They could not be a better match with Schumacher’s Chiang Mai Dragon!

You have to read this post which not only has many, many pictures of my Chiang Mai Pillows in situ at her FABULOUS home but will also introduce you to the extremely entertaining world of Tina Marie. She shares on a daily basis a very social and active life, steeling iphone pics in her daily forays to shop and visit friends. If anyone can handle the years long construction and interior decoration of this French Chateau Style Home set against the lovely rolling hills of New York, Tina can.

She also has an online shop featuring lovely European lighting, tableware and accessories. I am particularly enamored of the etched bell jar lanterns and seriously contemplating a couple of these for our home:

I’ll admit — I’ve been holding on to that fabulous picture of Olivia Palermo since it was first published back in February! No palette is as definitively “spring” to me as pink and green. It’s the look of tennis courts, Masters jackets, freshly cut lawns, and graduation bouquets. (Did I mention preppy?) For interiors right now I’m loving an almost moss shade of green — especially in velvet against walnut and brass for a rich look. (Have you seen Tory Burch’s drawing room?) And fashion-wise, shades of apple and emerald green are great for fair-skinned girls like me. (Just one more reason to break out the SPF 50.) As the temperature inches higher, I hope you find a patio or garden to enjoy during these last few weeks of spring!

Wrap it up at The Ribbonerie in San Francisco

Wrap it up at The Ribbonerie in San Francisco

On a recent trip to San Francisco I stopped by The Ribbonerie, a wonderful old world boutique shop for every ribbon you could ever desire.  Paris has not been in the cards for me lately, but if you want to feel like you are somewhere else, for just a few minutes, step  inside. They used to  be located in the Design district downtown but the neighborhood has gotten pretty seedy and with their lease up recently…they moved to stylish Sacramento Street.

My favorite area of the store is the bargain bins, full of wonderful rolls I use for a variety of projects at a clearance price.  My daughter had to have a little bit of many variations of pink, and she had quite a selection when she left.  They also have a vintage cabinet full of velvet flowers, ribbon, pins, etc. that could keep a milliner entertained for quite some time.

I apologize for the quality of these pictures with my iphone.  Here are a few more:

A fun stop next time you are in SF. There is a florist shop in the back that shares the space. I would imagine flowers from this store would be quite magical.

I was reading a Storque article on ETSY that featured this fabulous artist/painter/crochet master and I have become totally intrigued.  Surely if she can teach herself to crochet with that much detail I can learn to crochet as well.  I give myself until the end of the Summer to get a handle on this traditional craft.   With the amount of crocheted crafts (doilies, embellished linens, coasters, blankets)  I see at just about every estate sale in Portland, I ask myself how hard can it be?  I hereby challenge myself to learn this craft and will report back to you on my progress in a few months.   Elin, thanks for the inspiration!  And, here is an excerpt from the Storque article and a few wonderful images of her work.  Who would have thought one could ever want a pin cushion so badly.

Artist: elinart

Elinart_bio.jpgI am a visual artist from the UK and have a BA and MA in Fine Art. I specialise in painting but also love to make textile based jewellery and objects under my designer-maker name, “ELINtm.” I consider myself to have a wonderful life — I love spending every day creating, trying out new ideas and playing with beautiful materials.

When I saw the Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef at the Hayward Gallery in London, it completely seized my imagination. I then took up practicing crochet seriously and have drawn inspiration from the many amazing works made by other artists exploring this specific genre of crochet. The coral reef has developed into an extremely potent symbol for me, representing the abundance of nature and creativity, how its infinite beauty and diversity can only be marvelled at. It also reminds me how vital it is to view nature holistically and help to ensure that its treasures are valued and protected.

As an artist, it is important to me to remain connected with the wonder of nature through the childhood pleasures of close observation and making collections. Researching and creating coral inspired work offers endless visual delight and numerous technical challenges — I have learned an enormous amount from attempting to imitate nature.
