GREETINGS EVERYONE!
Kids are settling back into school and I’m enjoying morning walks in the neighborhood. Busy squirrels and bold crows are harvesting nuts and berries as the leaves turn vivid yellows, oranges and reds. The days and nights are getting cooler and we turn our attention toward home, right?
This latest collection was inpired by my backyard; a lively dahlia garden, an exuberant fig tree and lots of fallen pine cones.
This new fabric above featuring dragons and tigers pairs so beautifully with vibrant colors.
I had so much fun mixing and matching these pillow cominations…woolens, velvets, wovens, printed coordinates in stripe and Les Touches in several colorways work nicely together. I even threw in some vintage.
I mixed some vintage wool (orange and brown woven) with modern solid wool along with fun prints from Schumacher, Pindler and Brunschwig and Fils.
Another great Fall fabric is Citrus Garden in primary by Schumacher that lends itself to this palette as well.
CITRUS GARDEN IN PRIMARY – Lots of fun sizes!
A couple of fun, graphic fabrics by Schmacher are fun to add to this collcetion and keep things cheerful throughout the year.
And how fun is this NAVY CROSS?
LES TOUCHES in so many fun colors….
I sell the blue colorway online in my store but you can get it in all of these colors. Forever classic. Just send me a direct message if you would like to order in another colorway.

VERY PERI, PANTONE’s 2022 COLOR OF THE YEAR, revisited
I came across these very peri- inspired dresses in L’OFFICIEL resonating hope and beauty. That’s what we can all use right now, right?
Pantone designed this color of the year – VERY PERI – for 2022, specific to the unique times in which we are living.
“Reminiscent of the blue skies that emerge during the months of spring, and its namesake flower, periwinkle is regarded as a color of rebirth and vibrance both inside and outside the realm of fashion.”
With kids out of school and the start of Summer, one dreams of getting away…
We are loving the light blue palette of talented designer, AMY STUDEBAKER’s dreamy guest/pool house project.

I’ve been feeling nostalgic with the twins finishing junior high school. So much relief just having them home with all the crazy events of late.
We are looking forward to some trips to the beach, camping, hikes to some hot springs and many afternoons poolside.
If it would just stop raining in Portland.
Get ready folks, Summer is here…

We are about a week away from Spring. The enormous cherry tree in front of our house has started to bloom with light pink blossoms. Daffodils are sprouting and couples walking past seem to linger under its branches. It has been a long Winter in more ways than one and Spring is a time of renewal and hope, which we all need right now.
I thought I’d share some fun pillow combinations for Spring. The bunny hutch pattern created by Hunt Slonem has been madly popular. It was a top seller last year.
The citrus garden pattern by Josef Frank has also been hard to keep in stock. These fabrics are on back order more than they are not so I try not to run out.
Last year I made up a bunch of these bunny bags and filled them with Easter chocolates. I’ll try to get some up in the next week or so so they are available as nice Easter gifts. Although it’s hard not to eat into the profits.
Bunny Hutch comes in blue, charcoal, pink and aqua.
Blue and white is always popular and we have lots of coordinating textiles to choose from along with some new velvet colors like indigo, rosewater, dove and leaf.

Here’s a super fun project STUDIO TULLIA was proud to be a part of. Can you spot all the bunny pillows?

I’ve been into the blues lately…
The above swatches are some of my recent favorites, all from SCHUMACHER except the grayish swirl fabric by Kate Spade for Kravet. I Love the soft grays in the mix. That might be a nice direction for next Fall.
Last Spring I did a collection with THE ENCHANTED HOME that we never really formally introduced. A softer, more watery palette with light blues and aquas that I think is pretty lovely for Spring.
Pick a floral pattern or “anchor” fabric that you love like this VECCHIO SPA, and pull out the colors that speak to you like lavender, turquoise, green, gray…
How lovely is this pattern in curtains? (I am working on a curtain program for Spring…)
This HARU in Bluebell would also be lovely as curtains. This is a really large scale pattern:
As you can see in this pillow from STUDIO TULLIA:
The pictures below feature the front and back porch of Tina (of THE ENCHANTED HOME)’s newly built home in Palmetto Bluff, SC.
The lovely linen floral VECCHIO SPA with the JALISA coordinating pillows look so inviting with the blue shutters, topiary and bench above.
BLUE & WHITE POTTERY (as shown above from WS HOME) is a great layer to add to a blue and white color scheme. The cobalt pigment is one of the very few that can withstand the highest firing temperatures that are required, in particular for porcelain, which partly accounts for its long-lasting popularity
Blue and white decoration first became widely used in Chinese porcelain in the 14th century, after the cobalt pigment for the blue began to be imported from Persia. It was widely exported, and inspired imitative wares in Islamic ceramics, and in Japan, and later European tin-glazed earthenware such as Delftware and after the techniques were discovered in the 18th century, European porcelain. Blue and white pottery in all of these traditions continues to be produced, most of it copying earlier styles. For more information on blue and white pottery go HERE
(per Wikipedia)
You may also find a wonderful collection of porcelainware sets for sale at THE ENCHANTED HOME:
And here are some pillows from THE PAGODA COLLECTION that we curated together a year or so ago, beautifully displayed at her home in New York, that still look as fresh as ever:
A lovely floral fabric by Schumacher on the chairs and pillow below with coordinating prints and plaids in this room by ALEXANDER REA:
The use of CHINOISERIE, seen in the decorative arts since the 17th century, is still as classic as the combination of blue and white.
Chinoiserie (English: , French: [ʃinwazʁi]; loanword from French chinoiserie, from chinois, “Chinese”) is the European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and East Asian artistic traditions, especially in the decorative arts, garden design, architecture, literature, theatre, and music.[1] The aesthetic of Chinoiserie has been expressed in different ways depending on the region. Its acknowledgement derives from the current of Orientalism, which studied Far East cultures from a historical, philological, anthropological, philosophical and religious point of view. First appearing in the 17th century, this trend was popularized in the 18th century due to the rise in trade with China and East Asia.[2]As a style, chinoiserie is related to the Rococo style.[3] Both styles are characterized by exuberant decoration, asymmetry, a focus on materials, and stylized nature and subject matter that focuses on leisure and pleasure. Chinoiserie focuses on subjects that were thought by colonial-era Europeans to be typical of Chinese culture. – Definition from WIKIPEDIA
This is a gorgeous room featuring chinoiserie wallpaper in a Texas home done by MILES REDD:
And another gorgeous example as seen in Architectural Digest:
I first saw this room by Celerie Kemble and Kristen Wilson in THE BULLETIN by SCHUMACHER last Fall. The details and subtleties of colors are so exquisite. And the brighter cobalt chinoiserie panels are a nice contrast to the softer blues.
CITRUS GARDEN works with so many colors and coordinates…
Though I feel I’ve been in an eternal slumber for the last few weeks with the ever present gray light and rainy weather in Portland, I am hopeful that February is almost over and then we are through the worst of the Winter doldrums. Spring, here we come.

Well, I am SO happy to share with you some pictures from the ORC FINAL REVEAL of my upstairs GUEST ROOM!
I have to tell you that I really struggled with this room. I thought I had it all together and a couple days before the reveal I was NOT HAPPY with the results. I did a few things that turned the room around. The bedding felt lifeless, the room too traditional, and I was uninspired by the art. It was not cozy enough.
I added WHITE: white baskets, white duvet cover, shams and pillow covers from IKEA, fresh white paint on the trim, white lilies in a white vase. In an old house, in low light Portland, I have learned that nothing makes a room look fresh and modern better than WHITE.
I called my neighbor, Virginie Hoover, who had some lovely SHIBORI textiles she made this Summer that gave me the more bohemian/beach vibe I was looking for.
I went to GOODWILL for more frames and art, and printed some posters at WALGREEN’s from my Iphone pictures that were done in one hour. Fortunately, the local framers,I’VE BEEN FRAMED, were totally resourceful and accommodating and built some framing kits for me to assemble the art really fast.
My kids were the best, and helped me paint the dresser. I was up until 4 am the night before the final reveal day painting trim and doors. I was so exhausted and the extremely gray rainy day made it really hard to get any decent pictures. SO finally today the SUN came out here and there and I ran upstairs to try to capture the room. The night time shots I tried to take last night with artificial lights were horrible.
Something serendipitous always happens during a One Room Challenge when I go to Goodwill. This time I found a beautiful blue glass vase for $6.99 that had the original $59.99 price tag on it.
I also picked up a large framed poster really just for the frame but when I hung it up, oddly enough, the watermelon print grew on me and really kind of pulled things together.

Here are the SOURCES for the above room – I’ll do my best here:

I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to SARAH DARCY, a wedding writer with a website and blog chock full of wedding images and creative ideas…
Sarah Darcy is a wedding writer based in New England. She has a soft spot for the classic American preppy aesthetic which has come to serve as the signature backbone of this blog. The blog is a daily source of inspiration for every preppy bride as well as many industry insiders.
She recently completed her HOME OFFICE REVEAL. What I love about this office is the incredible attention to detail. Details are what make a room unique and personal. Click on the image below to read the full feature.
She features STUDIO TULLIA’s BUNNY HUTCH PILLOW which she has paired with a thick tailored seat cushion by PILLOW LOFT HOME DECOR on a vintage peacock chair. The gorgeous ceramic CHINOISERIE GARDEN STOOL is from DECOR MARKET.
SO, that leads me to the introduction of HUNT SLONEM, whom I discovered a while back as I delved into the origin of this whimsical bunny fabric. He has a rich collection of textiles available via LEE JOFA that are reflective of his artistic aesthetic and love for nature and its magical creatures. Anyone that paints butterflies, bunnies, and birds with such spirit and enthusiasm is my kind of artist.
SLONEM is creative, eclectic, colorful, passionate, and full of life…..from what I can gather. Check out this extraordinary display of candles in one of his homes. And look at the furnishings. Very dramatic. Just the kind of place I’d love to go see.
He also has a few books on the market featuring his extraordinary life as a designer, collector and artist.
Would you look at this wall of bunnies:
Love that he uses vintage frames for his contemporary art.
Look at this palette of paint colors:
These are the two color ways I chose to offer on STUDIO TULLIA, but there are a handful of others in lovely colors. His velvets are also really wonderful.
So there’s a little inspiration for you this Sunday Morning. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I was putting this post together and came across an incredible performance of My Funny Valentine by Alice Fredenham on Britain’s Got Talent. It’s beautiful, it’s inspiring and it made me cry (even Simon loved her). Listen Here!
Sitting at my desk, feeling gratitude and melancholy, on this rainy Friday… I could so relate to her fears about succeeding, putting herself out there.
See that lovely lamp on the right there, on my desk? I ran into the talented ~ Shannon Guirl ~ owner of Caravan Pacific, at a “seconds” craft show at ACE Hotel in downtown Portland last weekend.
I scored a white Hawthorne Lamp. I have pine wood office accessories, woven baskets, and a touch of chrome in my office, so this lamp in natural maple and chrome, fits right in! It really is so beautiful and gives off a nice, warm glow.
The Hawthorne Lamp and many others are available here
Here she is at her studio in SE Portland, where I picked up my lamp. Look what she has on the way…

I’ve been playing around with rose quartz/pale pink/soft lavender velvets for the last month, trying to figure out which ones to put in my Spring Collection. Pindler, Kravet, Schumacher, Gaston & Daniela – they all have wonderful hues. I’ve paired a couple with a Designer’s Guild’s Trasimeno striped velvet/linen and STUDIO TULLIA’s signature ribbon pillows. I borrowed a couple of my daughter’s treasures for this palette. We are getting ready to paint her room and are headed in this direction.
This scheme includes a vintage plate and a favorite stuffy:
and one more:
How nice would this Sullivan Lamp in Peony and Maple be in her room:
Would you look at these feathers? I was walking past the bridal section at the http://millendstore.com/ yesterday and came across these feathers, sold by the inch (for approx. $1.50/inch). I could not get over their color and beauty.
♥
And, here are a few of hand painted sacred hearts from our recent trip to Mexico, currently adorning my bookshelves.
Never have thought of myself as having a lot of pink, but here it is again, in my office:
Came across this dress in a window last week at Adam Arnold
And lastly, my sweetheart with the twinlets.
Here’s a beautiful heart by Johanna Basford if you need something to print out quick for your sweetheart:
Wishing you all a lovely weekend and Happy Valentine’s Day.
Yours truly,
Suzanne
